After 15 years in the NFL, six Super Bowl appearances, three Super Bowl rings, two Super Bowl MVPs and two NFL regular season MVPs (plus a smoking hot wife) it would be easy to think Tom Brady has always had everything, but the truth is Brady has overcome so many challenges during his career. The latest challenge he has to face being deflate-gate and the the Seahawks in the quest for his fourth ring.

The Brady story starts back in California where he grew up watching his idol Joe Montana. After graduation Brady would enroll and play football at Michigan but he was at the bottom of the depth chart and considered transferring. Ultimately he stayed, worked hard, and ended up starting two years for the Wolverines.

Brady then entered the 2000 NFL draft and was selected by the New England Patriots with the #199 pick overall. Brady started the 2000 season at the bottom of the depth chart but yet again was able to climb his way up to number two to start the 2001 season right behind Drew Bledsoe. A Bledsoe injury in the second game gave Brady his first NFL start.

Brady and the Patriots earned a playoff berth and a first round bye in his first season as a starter. New England drew the Oakland Raiders in Brady’s first playoff game it what continues to live on as the “Tuck Rule” game. After the controversial win New England shocked Pittsburg to go to the Super Bowl and face the greatest show on turf in the St. Louis Rams.

In the Super Bowl with the game tied and 1:21 left, Brady lead his team down the field to set up a game winning field goal by Adam Vinatieri. In just two years Brady had gone from fourth string to Super Bowl MVP and he continued to roll.

After winning two more Super Bowls, Brady and the Patriots had the ’72 Dolphins in their sights in 2007 season as they looked to go 19-0. However the New York Giants played spoiler in the Super Bowl scoring a late touchdown to clinch the upset win.

The bad luck continued in the next game for Brady as he was hit in the knee by Bernard Pollard during the season opener against Kansas City. Brady had to sit out the entire year receiving from surgery on his ACL and MCL.

Off the field Brady continued to have success. In 2009 he married Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bündchen (who Brady knows to take a back seat to when the two are on the red carpet).

Since coming out of the gates hot with three Super Bowl wins in four years it’s been ten years without a Super Bowl win for Brady because of the New York Giants. The good news for Brady he won’t have to face the Giants in Super Bowl XLIX, which looks like it might be his last great looks at winning it all. The bad news for Brady is he will have to beat Seattle, something he wasn’t able to do the last time he faced them. After that game Richard Sherman made a point of telling reminding Brady that he lost in a move that put Sherman in the national spotlight for the first time.
